Match Report | One of the shortest games we've ever played. A win in 50 minutes caused by over running games, half a lost Nuneaton team and leisure centre staff who absolutely, will not go over their hours by 15 minutes. Nuneaton, stronger than they looked, went ahead and scared the bejesus out of us going 1 up through a short corner. Leechy equalised from a narrow angle but not after Nuneaton hit our post. Alex Talbot (man of the match) gave us the lead before half time. Barely enough time to get the oranges out and for every one to berate everyone else for our lack of passing. As Sam pointed out we seemed to have hit the snooze button in the first half. Alex put us 3 - 1 up in the second 'half' (20 minutes long?!?) and then Tom Leech's second after a fluffed Pooley shot. The subs did well with very quick turn arounds with Josh and Sam playing well on the wings. Solid work from the backs negated the potentially dangerous Nuneaton duo moving down the middle and guest Chris Stevens working hard along with Tony doing his usual supreme distribution job. Nuneaton grabbed a second short corner at the end to get a consolation goal. On reflection not a comfotable win and a reminder that there are no easy games in this league. Next week Mansfield. |
