| Match Report | The Derwent Masters bandwagon lost a wheel as, despite going a goal up, they slipped to defeat against a well matched Mansfield side. Derwent took the lead early in the first half; Steve Langrick incepting as Mansfield tried to play their way up the field. The goalkeeper rushed out and over committed before Langrick swept the ball home. With Derwent taking the lead into the second half, confidence was high but a mixture of defensive lapses and great play by the Mansfield front line saw three opportunities get converted in quick succession. As Mansfield started to tire, Derwent gained a fresh hold on the game with Fred Drabble converting a late short corner. However, there wasn't enough time to pull back the final goal. |
