Match Report

A rescheduled game from a day when the pitch wasnt frozen after Melton tried to play the game on the 21st of December! So it was that we finally played one of the top sides in the league.

The score flattered Melton. We went 1-0 down in the first half but had our chances. Their keeper made a jammy save from Pooley Senior and we gave them problems throughout the game. Ben Merrick of all people got sent off for stopping an aerial pass marginally above his shoulder - I know its the 'rules' but really - surely a green and warning???

The second half saw us get beaten up. Melton's centre midfielder, bearing an uncanny similarity to Joe Pesci in Home Alone, played more like the Joe Pesci from Goodfellas. Injuries to Tony (foot), Ben (knee), Chris (knee and fat lip from Joe Pesci). Plaudits to Josh, Ben, Sam and Evan to more than standing up to a physical adult side. Three Melton goals saw them four up. Pooley Senior with a consolation goal (much to Leechy's annoyance cos he's behind me in the scoring table - he, he, he - and I spelt Tom's name incorrectly on the team sheet so it says only 4 goals - really hes got 8!)

No one was left to play the following week.
